Maleny is pretty much Queensland’s own hippie town where you’ll find several great yoga studios, teachers and classes happening each week. We’ve found them!
Essentially this town rivals Byron Bay while having a warmer climate and positive light and energy.
Best Yoga Studios in Maleny
You’ll find that Maleny is the ultimate escape for the person who’s looking for a change. Whether you’re just temporarily visiting the area or actually moving there, for many Queenslanders this place is essentially paradise.
From yoga studios to organic food cafes and vegan options galore, you’ll certainly find it here! It’s little wonder why this is the place where you’ll find the Crystal Waters Eco Village as well as the Woodford Folk Festival which isn’t too far away.
So let’s say you’re looking for Ashtanga, Yin, Vinyasa, Hatha or even kirtan meditation. Where do you go? Well we’ve found some great options right here:
1. Ra’ Yoga and Lifestyle
Suzi and Maddy have created this wonderful safe space in Maleny as passionate yoga teachers who live locally. Their studio has been lovingly created which fosters community spirit as the town is known for.

Their weekly calendar has quite a number of classes on including Yin, Flow, Restorative and more. They serve classes at 9:15am which is perfect for the post-school drop off for mums of Maleny.
2. Maleny Yoga Centre
Maleny Yoga Centre as it’s simply called offers some fantastic classes in a very intimate setting. Their yoga studio also has a leafy outlook and fresh air flowing in so you’ll feel a million miles away.

This place is very non-judgemental. If you’re new to yoga, then this is certainly a great choice. It’s more-so popular with the 40+ crowd so you won’t find as many young people here.
3. Maleny Mountain Yoga
Not too many people have actually heard of Maleny Mountain Yoga but it’s certainly a great place up in the hills. You’ll need a car as it’s about 10 to 15 minutes out of town.

Not only are there yoga classes here in their very spacious studio, but you’ll also find sound bowl meditation and kirtan offered regularly. The owners here are as alternative as you’ll find, while staying true to the essence of yoga and without the commercial Instagram aspect.
4. Palladium Private
Right – Palladium Private isn’t so much a yoga centre. It’s a holistic mental health retreat centre where clients stay for an extended period of time to deal with challenges in their life. Essentially, guests here can deal with their concerns while making permanent lifestyle changes in their lives, not just to their own benefit but to those around them too.

Yoga classes as well as meditation are offered here as it’s a health retreat centre. You can’t really drop in for regular classes but this place is absolutely worth the mention on this list for the positive impact that they have had on thousands of individuals from not just Queensland, but around Australia.
Getting started
Now that we’ve covered some great local yoga studios, let’s help you get started properly.
If you’re new to yoga, don’t be daunted! It’s actually quite straight forward:
- Plan to get there 10 minutes before each class, even if you’ve been there before.
- Try out a few different yoga studios with casual passes first before commiting.
- Bring your own yoga mat. It’s not just more hygienic but comforting as well.
- Don’t judge yourself and remember that no one else is judging you either.
The teachers at all of these yoga studios mentioned welcome beginners. It doesn’t matter where you start from, it only matters that you actually start.
Are there any more of Maleny’s yoga studios that we’ve missed? Do you have any news about a bikram yoga studio opening up soon? If so, we’d love to hear! Drop us a comment below and we can update this list.
