In summary
Yoga is something that you can start at any age. In fact, you don’t even need to buy a yoga mat yet! Most of these studios mentioned do have high-quality yoga mats for students already rolled out with good grip. Just bring a towel!
In fact, if this is your first time, let’s share with you some additional tips:
- Bring your own water bottle
- Book ahead of time to the class
- Plan to arrive 10 minutes early
- Let your teacher know that you’re new
- Find a spot down the back (it’s less intimidating)
- Remember your own abilities and limitations
- Don’t judge the poses of others, as yoga is an individual journey
You might also want to join a yoga retreat where you can really unplug. There are several yoga retreats in the surrounding areas of Whangerei and Northland that can accommodate you.
After a few years, you might wish to enrol in yoga teacher training. For now at least, start your journey the right way by joining one of these yoga studios. With only 4 well-known studios in town, you can try them all out with casual passes before finding one for regular membership month by month.
