The Fool upright tarot card represents the risk-taking and somewhat reckless nature of letting go and become wild and free. This takes us back to our younger years.
As adults, we do need to have some responsibiility, however, this shouldn’t hold us back from a life of divine freedom and experience.
The Fool Upright Meaning
Many of us crave a fresh start in life. After all, we’ve been bogged down with responsibilities and debt which inhibit our growth both physically and spiritually. We see others enjoying fantastic memories and we desire to be young, wild and free once again.

There’s just one problem – some people just take it too far. As adults, there are times when we do need to keep things in moderation. Undertaking a 6-week meditation retreat while you have young children might not be the best idea.
Yet at the same time….no rest is counterproductive. We won’t be able to find our joy in life if we are simply living outside the essence of our soul, and for many of us, we find this in the joyous pursuit of freedom.
Card meaning
The Fool Upright is a ‘No’ tarot card. As with many of our psychic readers, we’ve used the Rider Waite series. This is definitely the character that you’ll want to be mineful of.

The young man here is at the edge of the cliff and is completely oblivious about the dangerous that lay before him. He is simply day-dreaming about the wonderful life that lays ahead, but we all know that something is about to happen.
Now – we should never deter those from their dreams of a better life, unless of course there is an immediate danger that they can’t see. The very fact that he’s wearing different colored footwear symbolizes his own incompetence.
At such a young age, he of course has much innocence and purity. This niavety isn’t shared by his dog who is there to protect him yet is also just as wild at times. After all, they’re both in this journey together.
The number 0 on this tarot card represents unlimited possibilities and you don’t need to align it in a specific order of any Major Arcana. On one hand the man is willing to take risks and yet on the other, just hasn’t seen what dangers are lurking ahead.
In the future he will have two primary choices:
- Experience the hurt and never again embark on another journey and indeed many people take this pathway.
- Experience the hurt and rise up wiser, stronger and more excited for more adventures. Fewer people take this pathway.
Ultimately, we at Yocean Yogi do prefer #2. Life is short and so the prizes are always worth the risk.
Our true potential
We all have the potential to embark on new frontiers of discovery in our mental, physical and spiritual development. This indeed is an exciting time where both challenges and rewards are bountiful.
Taking that first step into the unknown can be distressing or the very best thing we’ve ever done. Either way – you must commit yourself for the long and ardous journey ahead. Leave those fears and insecurities behind with the rest of those who have chosen to stay stagnant.
We are powerful creatures and will never need confirmation from others that new journeys should be taken. We know if things are right for us deep in our soul. Some things resonate with us and some things don’t.
You’ll never have everything perfectly planned for this new adventure and indeed no one ever does. This is apart of reaching your true potential, by (somehow) finding certainty in the unknown.
Today you have the opportunity to relax and have fun. It doesn’t matter how old you are or your current responsibilities. In times of magic, we can bring forward new ideas and opportunities into our lives as the free spirits that we were born to be.
Trekking forward
It’s time to embody all that you were created to be. Do you really want to wait around any longer? You don’t need permission from the teacher anymore. If you don’t know where to begin then write a basic plan.

What’s most important is that you start. The journey won’t be easy and there will be times that you will need to be responsible. Avoid the reckless nature of The Fool Upright and see things for what they truly are, but don’t let the fear of the unknown hold you back.
Life is a grand adventure and your time to explore is NOW.
