The Hanged Man Upright: What Does It Mean?

Sharing is caring!

The Hanged Man upright tarot card symbolizes our need to let go and gain new perspectives. We don’t always have all the answers and will need to call upon universal intelligence in times of need.

The Hanged Man Upright

Sometimes letting go and surrendering is exactly what we need to find ourselves. Instead of seeking externally, perhaps the answers are best found inside in moments of stillness.

The Hanged Man Upright meaning

This explains the popularity of yoga and meditation. In a Savasana pose which is the last pose in a yoga sequence, you can literally melt into your yoga mat and find stillness and inspiration.

Afterwards, many individuals come out relaxed and refreshed. In fact, many desire to go for a second round because it’s literally that good! Letting go is the ultimate nourishment in times of need.

Card meaning

The Hanged Man Upright is a ‘Yes’ tarot card as we’ve done our psychic reading using the Rider Waite series. We see him surrendering to the greater good of both himself and the world around him.

Card reading of The Hanged Man Upright

The tree he’s connected to represents source energy. He’s allowing Gaia to direct his path through life as up until this point, he has been met with chaos and confusion. It’s his voluntary choice to go through this and this is reprsented by his calm and happy demeanour.

The blue shirt he wears represents the static nature of the world. People who wear blue are generally in static positions in both business and in the workforce. While the man is static, he has allowed himself to be handed over.

He’s also using his bodyweight to stretch himself through these challenging times. It’s intended that he will be here for a while and that handing himself over is apart of his life’s journey.

Letting go

When life gets to hard, it’s simply wise to let go. To find your happy place and rest. There will always be tomorrow to take on the responsbilities of the world.

If you have a large quest coming up, then this is the opportunitistic time. Perhaps you’ve moving house, transitioning to a new job or even manifesting a new relationship. This period of retreat will serve you well.

The time of which you should do this won’t often be convenient. Indeed there will be many other things that will try to grab at your attention and pull you away from this place of relaxation. Don’t let them win!

You must embrace this time of healing and they must respect this process. New light is emerging from the darkness but this transformation will take some time. Don’t rush as this is for the greater good of yourself and the planet.

By letting go, we can soon harness the tools that will get us going further in life. We can find outcomes that reward us as opposed to those which discourage us from progression.

From here, we can build ourselves a new routine. One that is healthy and enlightening that includes daily yoga, meditation and spiritual development. Until then, now is the time to surrender.

Going forward

When we’re stuck, it does seem counter-intuitive to retreat and find a safe haven. Men especially like to charge through and ‘defy the odds’ in their personal quest. It’s interesting as in this case, it’s a man on this tarot card.

Tarot card analysis

Instead of powering through, there is much power to be found in stillness. It’s a time to restore energy so you can rise higher and become more powerful than ever before. All that’s needed is a change of perspective in the current moment.

Surrender and let go. There will always be tomorrow to chase new opportunities!
