The King of Cups Upright tarot means that we need to find balance in our lives and compassion for others, regardless of how tall we are. Not everyone has achieved what we have.
We must find the light for others to see in the dark. Through our inspiration, others will gravitate to our message of light and love, but first we must shine.
The King of Cups Upright
Too often we see people who have achieved success and have a ‘high and mighty’ attitude. They say things are easy and that we need to “get off our backside” and work harder…as if that is the solution.

Here at Yocean Yogi, we take a holistic perspective. We believe fundamentally in human progress and achieving great things in our lives holistically, but we certainly don’t believe in looking down at others. The world really is a level playing field.
It doesn’t matter where you end up; it only matters if you have a heart. If you come to the world with light, love, compassion and empathy. When we look at icons such as Oprah, we feel a strong emotional connection to her message and mission.
Why? Because Oprah doesn’t make it about her. It’s about them…her audience. Those that appreciate what she offers to the world around her.
Card meaning
The King of Cups Upright is a ‘Yes’ Tarot card. We use the Rider Waite cards for our psychic readings and we recommend these cards. In a love reading it means the need to spread love throughout the world regardless of your social status or achievements.

We see the King on his throne with such authority, but unlike others, he’s also quite the creative type with the amulet that he’s wearing. The cup is his emotions. Have you ever heard the expression “I need to fill my cup…”? Well – this is the emotional top-up that we often require.
For him, the cup is very much full and thus he places no focus upon it. He’s also floating with his throne and despite this perhaps uncertainty, he is still in power and control over the situation.
At times when things seem like chaos, he has the situation handled very well. This gives him time to resonate more with those before him and create a strong emotional connect. He knows where they have come from….because he was once there!
Others see him as just like them. Someone who sometimes doesn’t have all the answers but can figure out the path forward, much like the ship we see on this tarot card representing the ebbs and flows of life.
Losing judgement
We are both to be creativive and inspiring individuals. We must find control over our feelings and accept that not everything will go according to plan. Most importantly – we cannot judge the success and failiures of others either.
It’s best to stay clear of drama entirely. Turn off the news and avoid social media discussions that only take us downhill. To find emotional balance and prosperity, we need to be calm, confidence and in control. The King of Cups Upright certainly has this mastered!
Losing judgement comes through balance and empathy. Not everyone can achieve remarkable progress. Actually…they can…but often the desire isn’t strong. Many people are more than happy with basic results at the end of their journey. This is their journey and not yours.
We cannot judge their journey as anything like ours. There should be no condemnation as this simply takes us off our paths towards the finish line. We must find our way towards the finish line and remember that this is our own race. Equally so, we cannot condemn those above us.
This balance is often hard to develop in the early stages. It takes patience and persistence while we interact with others above and below us. Find peace in the moments of progress and seek those who can lift you up in this journey.
Going forward
Others sometimes try to steer us off the course towards our destiny, but we must stay true to our mission. Most importantly – we shouldn’t steer ourselves away and nor should we be critical of anyone else.

We all have a moral compass and belief system that keeps us aligned and going forward. A small sense of selfishness and care towards our own personal quest might be necessary to avoid the conflict or assumptions towards others.
It’s time to master our emotions and lose the judgement that we hold towards others.
