The Knight of Cups upright card represents the need for our child-like imagination and to see the beauty in the world. Indeed, we are living in extraordinary times!
There are boundless opportunities around if we only know where to look. This tarot card reminds us that the time is now for the creative types.
The Knight of Cups Upright
The world has come along way in the last 100 years. Let’s think back to the wars we previously encountered as nations argued over trade, minerals and money. Such atrocities caused the loss of millions of lives.

Let’s look at today. We’re all connected and can reach just about anyone in 4 seconds or less. We’re more connected than ever, yet we feel a lack of connection within ourselves. Some of us just can’t quite see the charm and beauty that the world has to offer.
Indeed it is a beautiful world. There are campaigns to reduce plastic waste, to reduce human trafficking and to lift humanity forward. The world today is working together towards harmony.
Some would say the world has found its own intuition. That somehow we’re all talking to each other while not taking at all. Hope, inspiration and change has come about…yet some are still behind.
Card meaning
The Knight of Cups Upright is a ‘Yes’ tarot card in the Rider-Waite deck. We’ve done the majority of our psychic readings using these cards though the meanings from other alternatives are quite similar especially for love readings.

We see here a knight riding his beautiful white horse. The horse is strong and powerful, but with a touch of humour. This represents our need to laugh on the journey which further opens our belief to the beauty found in the world around us.
The knight himself is well dressed. He’s also very confident in his ways. His mind has opened to the new rules of the world and he has chosen to venture into new territories of discovery.
The mountains behind represent the barren landscape that others live their lives in. They can’t see the beauty in their outer world and indeed their inner world. They are trapped by their own mind.
Despite his wisdom, the knight remains caring to all that come into his life. He appreciates those who have yet to master their mind while admiring the masters who have walked this path before.
For him, life is a pursuit of continual learning. He wants to keep rising higher and experiencing more moments of joy, creativity and imagination. We see evidence of this with the clothing he wears. Clearly the imagination has truly run wild in recent times.
Your inner spark
This is your chance to finally ‘light up’ on the inside. There is maybe something you’ve been putting off for a number of years. A passion or hobby from when you were younger that has been locked away or moved aside in exchange for responsibility. That’s true for young parents.
Having a child-like imagination can really unlock the gates to our inner joy and wellbeing. We love having dreams of creating a new life for ourselves and our loved ones, but for most people – they are that: merely dreams. When you bring imagination to reality and actually take action, you can create excellence.
Decisions should be run through our heart and not our rational/logical mind. That heart chakra is designed to vibrate and provide us direction when we need it the most. Trust that feeling inside your heart when your intuition says “Yes! This is the one!” when evaluating a new possibility.
After all, your inner spark is there. It has been there all along! Only it has been masked by the need to fit in with the normality of society and the herd. The Knight of Cups rides alone and it’s your turn.
Start today
This is your opportunity to start fresh. Go and create that blank canvas and let this imagination run wild. The world brings us much beauty, warmth and radiance. If you lack this feeling, then head to the forest or woods for a few hours…or even a few days!

In such a place it’s difficult to ignore the wonders of nature. The chance to return ‘home’ to where source energy is unfolding at its finest. Where life is created and reincarnated from being to being.
The world has much beauty to offer and it’s time for you to turn on the switch.
